The club was very well
represented at the Riding Club National Championships at
Lincoln on 8TH – 9TH September.
It’s a great weekend of competition and a super
atmosphere with British Riding Clubs organizing many
different classes. All competitors have already
qualified by winning at area level, so this is the
culmination of a year of qualifiers and much hard work
and practice. The finals are sponsored by NAF animal
feeds and every member receives a goody bag from NAF on
their arrival and great prizes.
SENIOR OPEN DRESSAGE

The senior open dressage
team of Diane Knight riding Lionhart, myself riding
Mister Percy, John Mears, Rio and Nicky Kaenzig, Lord
Landy had a fantastic result, and were placed 4th
out of 20 teams. Each team member rode a different test
John, myself and Diane rode a Novice test and Nicky had
the hardest job of riding an Elementary test! John was
placed 5th in his arena, me 8th,
Nicky 15th and Diane had a fantastic win in
her arena!

Diane rode the first test
of the team and had the most challenging going, where
her pony Lionhart struggled with the morning dew and had
several slips, but Diane rode a super polished test to
finish 1st in her arena with a score of just
over 69%
John was next to go,
where Rio was his usual consistent self with John being
super cool and produced a very good test. I followed on
Mister Percy, riding for the club at the championships
for the 2nd year and despite a slip also
produced a good test. Nicky, riding for the club at the
finals for the 3rd year was the final team
member to go and rode a polished elementary test on her
lovely Lord Landy. The team was very pleased to finish
with such a good placing at the championships and is
very grateful for all the support received. Special
congratulations must go to Diane Knight for her
fantastic win, we now have another National Champion in
the club!!
SENIOR NOVICE DRESSAGE
The senior Novice
dressage was represented by Sam Darvill riding Petrisk
and finished a very good 3rd in her arena –
well done Sam.

SENIOR NOVICE SHOWJUMPING
Siobhan Mills riding
Saffy represented the club as an individual in the
Novice show jumping and produced an excellent clear in
the first round over a challenging course which included
a double and a treble combination. She then proceeded
to the second round and unfortunately had the LAST fence
down – what a shame, but well done to her for producing
2 good rounds.
JUNIORS
The juniors had their
turn on the Sunday with most of them arriving on the
Saturday night.
The junior show jumping
team of Lizzie Barnes, Lucy Barnes, Sam Reddrop and Tija
Cowie were unplaced after 2 rounds and didn’t quite make
it through to the jump off. Lizzie Barnes had the best
score with 4 faults in the first round and a clear in
the second.
Eleanor Cloake who was
our only junior dressage competitor and finished in 11th
place.
Well done to the juniors,
some of which were having their first experience of a
national championship.
I would like to thank the
club for the opportunity to compete again at the
Nationals and for all the support received from other
members and of course, our great team manager Rachael
